S'mores are usually made by the campfire. Marshmallows are roasted until they're gooey. The graham cracker's with pieces of a chocolate Hershey's bar are used to sandwich the gooey roasted marshmallow.
No one knows for sure who invented the S'mores. However the first published recipe for "some mores" was in 1927 publication called Tramping and Trailing with the girl scouts. Loretta Scott Crew, who made them for the girl scouts by the campfire, is given credit for the recipe.
There have been many S'mores made by our campfires here at Morning View Retreat. I think it would be a toss up as to who loves them more adults, or kids. Family time spent together around a campfire relishing that sweet gooey S'mores taste cannot be beat.
